Visit the “Ceremonies in Circles” exhibit to explore traditional masks, garments, woodcarvings, and objects related to special rituals and community celebrations. The exhibit provides insights into the West African traditions of masquerade as well as artistic interpretations of old wisdom and new meanings. Discover messages that connect people to their ancestors and cultural heritage and interpret concerns for land protection and love for one another. 
Most featured artworks were created by artists in our region, with others acquired from private collections. Discover works by renowned artists Ira L. Bond, Melvin Deal, Boubacar Diabete, Moussa Diabete, Maxwell Kofi Donkor, Arthur Driscoll, and Richard Robinson Jr.”

White Christmas

“Members of Cherokee High School’s drama club will perform Irving Berlin’s heartwarming musical, White Christmas this December. White Christmas tells the story of World War II Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, formerly old war comrades, who are tasked with staging a winter Christmas show at a picturesque Vermont lodge. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love a Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, “White Christmas” is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages. Performances will be held in Cherokee’s Performing Arts Center on December 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:00PM. Ticket prices are $15 each. Adventure Aquarium Sensory Sundays

“Adventure Aquarium will host a sensory-inclusive hour aimed at guests with autism and other sensory sensitivities on the third Sunday of every month, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. 
During the Sensory Sunday hour, the Aquarium will lower the music, soften the lights, and reduce the crowds, all in an effort to create the most enjoyable experience for guests with sensory needs and their families, for whom a typical trip to the Aquarium can be much more challenging.

Adventure Aquarium also offers a limited number of sensory bags to rent for any guests who may begin to feel overwhelmed during their visit. Sensory bags can be signed out at the Aquarium’s Info Desk and are equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and verbal cue cards.”

 

13th Annual South Jersey Tuba Christmas

“Tuba and euphonium players from across the region will gather to play Christmas music. Registration for participants begins at 4:00 PM with a rehearsal at 5:00 PM.
